Restoring a Backup

Updated 2 July 2026

If you need to roll back your site to a previous state, BugShield can restore from a stored backup.

This restoring a backup guide gives you practical steps you can apply quickly, with a focus on reducing downtime and keeping your WordPress site stable and secure.

Request a restore

  1. Open your site dashboard and go to the active chat for that site.
  2. Tell us you want a restore and state the exact backup date or backup point you want restored.
  3. Our team will confirm the restore request in chat before work starts.

A developer will perform the restore and notify you in chat when complete. Restores overwrite the current site state, so confirm you selected the correct backup point.

Before you restore

  • Note any content added since the backup that you may lose.
  • Ensure vault credentials are current so we can access your hosting.
