Add a DNS Record
Updated 2 July 2026
DNS records are managed at your domain registrar or DNS host (Cloudflare, Route 53, cPanel, etc.).
This article explains how to add DNS records correctly, including where to make changes and how to avoid common record conflicts.
Steps
- Log in to your DNS provider and open the zone for your domain.
- Choose Add record and select the record type.
- Enter the hostname, value, and TTL. Use
@for the root domain. - Save and allow time for propagation.
Duplicate or conflicting records (two A records for the same host) can cause intermittent outages. Remove old records when replacing hosting.
