Monitoring Overview

BugShield maintenance monitoring combines external availability checks with information from the connected WordPress plugin. Both Shield Light and Shield Pro include the full monitoring suite.

What BugShield monitors

  • Availability: uptime checks every five minutes, HTTP status and response time.
  • Performance: response trends and Core Web Vitals for mobile and desktop.
  • Security: SSL, file integrity, exposed or risky settings and security signals.
  • WordPress software: installed plugin inventory, update health, known vulnerability signals and software support status.
  • Technical health: PHP and server environment, database, cron and debug-log findings.
  • Visibility and delivery: technical SEO, DNS and email-domain checks.

What you see in the dashboard

The Monitoring workspace summarises site health, recent availability, issues needing attention and the latest check times. Individual modules provide evidence and context rather than a single unexplained score. Follow Reading Your Monitoring Dashboard to interpret these results.

Connect the plugin for full monitoring

External uptime can test a public URL, but most WordPress, plugin, file, environment and backup signals require the secure plugin connection. If the dashboard asks you to connect, follow Connecting the BugShield WordPress Plugin so BugShield can collect and display the full monitoring data.

What happens when an alert appears

Monitoring alerts are sent to you and the BugShield team. If an alert shows that action is needed, a developer will review it and fix the issue as part of your maintenance service. You can use subscriber support if you have any questions about an alert.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is monitoring included on both Shield plans?

Yes. Shield Light and Shield Pro both include the full monitoring suite.

How often is uptime checked?

BugShield checks the availability and response time of maintenance sites every five minutes.

Why is a monitoring module empty?

The plugin may not be connected yet, the check may not have completed, or the site may not expose enough information. Missing data is not automatically a clean result.

Who receives BugShield monitoring alerts?

Monitoring alerts are sent to you and the BugShield team. If a finding needs action, a developer will review it and fix the issue as part of your maintenance service.
