Adding Your First Site
Your first WordPress domain is added when you create your BugShield account. BugShield creates a dedicated workspace for the site, keeping its requests, credentials and maintenance history together in one place.
Before you add your domain
- Use the live site’s primary domain, such as
example.com. - Do not enter a page path such as
example.com/contact. - Make sure you own the site or are authorised to arrange work on it.
- If the site redirects between
wwwand non-www, enter the version visitors ultimately reach.
Add your site during sign-up
- Enter the primary domain of the WordPress website you want to add.
- Choose one-off support, Shield Light or Shield Pro for that site.
- Review the selection and complete any required payment details.
- Continue to the new site workspace.
What belongs to the workspace
The site’s fix requests, developer conversations, Vault items, Activity Log, subscription, monitoring results and backup history stay together. If you add more websites later, each one receives its own workspace. Learn more in Managing Multiple Sites.
After adding a maintenance site
Download and install the BugShield WordPress plugin from the dashboard. Follow Connecting the BugShield WordPress Plugin to link WordPress to the selected workspace, start monitoring and enable backups.
Common questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I include https:// in the domain?
Enter the domain requested by the form rather than a full page URL. Use the primary hostname visitors reach and leave out page paths.
Can I add a staging site?
A workspace should represent the site covered by the request or plan. If a staging installation needs separate ongoing cover, add it as its own site.
Can I change the domain later?
Contact BugShield before changing a registered domain so its records, plugin connection and service coverage stay attached to the correct site.
Does adding a site automatically install the plugin?
No. Maintenance customers download the plugin from the dashboard, install it in WordPress and approve the connection separately.
